Have you ever dreamed of staying in a wild west saloon with the rugged Rocky Mountains just outside your door? Well, at Maison Tetonia you can do just that! This unique AirBNB not only offers stunning views of the Grand Tetons and surrounding wilderness, but the property itself looks like a picture from a postcard.
And, with its convenient location near national parks and a variety of outdoor activities, it’s the perfect place to hang your hat.
Here are just a few reasons why you’ll want to add Maison Tetonia to your vacation bucket list.

The Property
Located down a quiet country road just 10 minutes from Driggs, Idaho, Maison Tetonia is a picturesque escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. As you pull into the gravel driveway with the Tetons laid out before you, you’re immediately swallowed up by an overwhelming sense of calm. The only sound you hear over the hushed breeze is the babble of the stream and horses in nearby pastures.
Then, as you round the corner with bags in hand, you see it – The Saloon.
Seemingly plucked from a John Wayne classic, no other accommodations can rival The Saloon’s unique charm. And, if you think it looks like a scene from an old western, that’s for good reason. The property was originally owned by a German movie set designer who built the Saloon and surrounding cabins when summering in Idaho with friends and family. Every year, he’d return to add onto his masterpiece until it became the stunning estate it is today.
Now, it’s owned and operated by my dear friend Ashley, whom I met a few years ago on a retreat in Bali. With the help of her gregarious pup, Sophie, she runs Maison Tetonia like a well-oiled machine. The grounds are well-kept, she provides thoughtful amenities, and she ensures every visit is memorable for all the right reasons.
So, what can you expect when you stay at Maison Tetonia?

Details For Days
The property features everything you could possibly want to make your stay more enjoyable. A fire pit for lazy nights roasting marshmallows while reliving the day’s adventures. Forgot your chocolate and graham crackers? Don’t worry! Ashley provides everything you’ll need to make the perfect smore so you can avoid a trip to the market.
Looking for the perfect place to enjoy a cup of the local coffee that’s provided in the Saloon’s kitchen? Why not mosey across the bridge to watch the sunrise on Maison Tetonia’s creekside white sand beach? You read that right – it has its own beach!
Feel like relieving your sore muscles after a day of exploring? Then, jump in the saltwater hot tub for a soak while you search for shooting stars. Oh, the stars! With almost no ambient light around, you’ve never seen so many twinkling above!
And, you can feed your competitive streak with a game of pool inside The Saloon’s living room. Because, what would any wild west adventure be without some billiards and beers? Ashley even provides local brews made in the Teton Valley. I’ll toast to that!
Plus, there are odds and ends in the living room sleigh just in case you forgot something at home. Phone chargers, spare batteries, bug spray, even hand sanitizer and masks (a nod to our new COVID-friendly reality). Ashley has literally thought of everything so you don’t have to!

Inside The Saloon
If you’re impressed by The Saloon’s facade, just wait until you step inside! The thoughtful details and western motif make it such an inviting atmosphere, you’ll never want to leave.
And, why would you need to?! The Saloon includes a full kitchen, gas grill, laundry room, indoor fireplace, TV, WiFi, and plenty of toiletries. So, you can enjoy all the regular creature comforts while you’re away from home.
Not only does The Saloon feature local coffee and beer from nearby breweries, but even the artwork is locally sourced. For instance, hanging on either side of the TV in the living room you’ll find two stunning pieces of art made entirely with wood. The wolf and bison creations are the work of Michael Merritt, a Teton Valley talent who sells his woodwork around town.

Nearby Activities
If you can pry yourself away from the allure of Maison Tetonia’s grounds, there are plenty of activities to partake in nearby. Hot air balloon rides, golfing, mountain biking, hiking, skiing, and snowboarding, just to name a few.
During my stay, I ventured out on a 4-hour horseback ride with Dry Ridge Outfitters that took me into some gorgeous backcountry. And, after riding up hillsides and crossing creek beds, the tour brought us to a scenic overlook for a trailside picnic lunch. It was an afternoon of pure perfection.
To cool off, I went on a sunset float with a paddleboard I rented at Teton River Supply. The leisurely pace of the Teton River made it easy to enjoy the breathtaking mountain views around every turn. You can also float down in kayaks, canoes, and inner tubes (which can be rented as well).
If you’re looking for a nostalgic way to spend an evening, check out The Spud Drive-In Theater off Highway 33. Its huge high-resolution projection screen and state-of-the-art-in-car sound system is a fantastic way to enjoy a night at the movies.
But, the most sought after activity is probably a visit to the impressive national parks nearby. Maison Tetonia is located on the west side of the famed Grand Tetons, and access to Grand Teton National Park is easy with Jackson Hole a mere 40-miles away. Or, you can venture north about an hour and a half to explore Yellowstone National Park. There, you’ll see bison, waterfalls, and some of the most impressive natural wonders in the world like Grand Prismatic Spring and Old Faithful.

So, if you’re looking for a place to stay on your next wild west adventure, check out Maison Tetonia! This delightful property is unlike anything you’ve ever experienced and is sure to leave you with memories for a lifetime.
