There are endless reasons to visit Florida – the beaches, the seafood, the night life… the beaches! I always enjoy my time down in the Sunshine State for its heat, briny smell, and stark contrast between a fast paced nightlife and a leisurely day on the shore.
Here are just twelve reasons you should plan a visit to Florida soon!
“Welcome to Miami, bienvenidos a Miami!” Any Will Smith fans out there??? The night life around the Historic Art Deco District offers plenty of opportunities to eat and get jiggy with it. And, if you’re looking for a way to cruise the streets in style, enjoy a limo ride in Florida for a convenient (and classy!) ride!
Break out your poodle skirt! The Tropic Cinema in Key West makes you feel like you’re stepping back in time to the 1950’s. This was one of my favorite buildings on the island – such character!
Cruising the Overseas Highway to the Southernmost Point of the continental U.S. had been on my bucket list forever. It was interesting seeing it after being in Cuba the week before, with so many Cuban references in Key West.
If you find yourself in Key West make sure not to miss eating at Blue Heaven. The Sea Scallops Provencale and the blueberry pancakes are absolutely delicious! Plus, the eclectic atmosphere and al fresco dining is a quintessential Key West experience.
Feel like catching a Major League Baseball game in a more intimate atmosphere? Then head to Roger Dean Stadium in Jupiter, one of Florida’s 13 Spring Training parks.
Relax at one of Florida’s beautiful beaches (and take in the stunning colors of an ocean sunset!) For some of the best beaches, check out the white sands of Marco Island!
Head to Kelly’s for a drink and some vintage Pan Am paraphernalia. Visiting the birthplace of the United States’ first international airline is definitely an experience every traveler should have.
Don’t forget to stop by the last mile marker on Highway 1! It’s the longest North to South road in America, running from Fort Kent, Maine to Key West, Florida.

If you’re a Dexter fan, then stop by the Bay Harbor Club to see Dexter’s apartment. Be aware that it’s a private complex though, and trespassing isn’t allowed past the front gate. I had to be a creeper and snap this shot while standing on top of a dumpster. Yup. I’m classy.
