According to research carried out by Condé Nast Traveler, around half of all adults in the UK and USA will be freelance workers by 2020.  That means as long as you can get work done to meet deadlines and are available whenever your clients need you, then you could realistically work from anywhere!

So, with that in mind, here are the top three reasons you don’t have to quit your job in order to travel the globe.

1. Find The Right Employer

For some people, traveling means living abroad for months on end, sleeping in bedsits, and trying to fully immerse themselves in the local culture.  For others, however, traveling is best done in stints of a week or two at a time and is more of a relaxing holiday.  

No matter what type of travel you prefer, chances are you can find an employer that will fit your desired lifestyle.  There are numerous roles that will allow you to go overseas to visit clients or other offices for varying amounts of time.  And because so many workers want to see the world, it’s no wonder research has found that around 30% of people would take a lower salary if their job allowed them to work abroad from time to time.

For many people, salary isn’t everything.  Sure, they want to be well compensated.  But they also desire the opportunity to have new experiences.  They want to be able to step away from the office and explore, engage, and challenge themselves in new surroundings.

So if you want to see the world while maintaining a steady income, find an employer that allows you to work remotely or from offices around the globe!

2. Make Booking Your Travel Easier

If you work as a freelancer and love the idea of working from another country for a few days, you can now book your trip at the drop of a hat!  Gone are the days of having to visit a travel agent to sort out all of the details.  Instead, flights, hotels, transportation, and tours can now be reserved within minutes (and often on the same easy-to-use website!)

Research has found that more people now book vacations using a smart device compared to those who use a laptop or desktop computer – further evidence to show how much our booking habits have evolved.

If you generally work from home and are able to deal with clients regardless of where you are in the world, a spontaneous trip every now and then could be the perfect way to keep those working blues at bay!

3. Incorporate Travel Into Your Work

If traveling is your passion, then perhaps the best option for you is to incorporate travel into your actual work.  If you’re a photographer, writer, musician or filmmaker, then finding unusual and unique environments is central to helping you make money.  And what better way to do that than to travel! 

However, even if your job is something less creative (like sales, for example), then traveling will enable you to seek new customers.  And that could massively enhance your business’ profitability.
