Nestled among the vineyards of the Alsace region is the quaint village of Colmar, France. I’d heard strolling through its streets feels like stepping into a Disney movie, and it had been on my own bucket list for quite some time. So when I found myself in Paris, it was the perfect opportunity to check this fairytale village off my list! Here are just a few examples of why I think it’s one of the most charming places in Europe.

Maison des Têtes (House of the Heads) is a Renaissance style house built in 1609. This aptly named building is adorned with 106 unique head sculptures.
Make sure to stop by one of the many pastry shops for some chocolate and macaroons. Passion fruit and violet? Yes, please!
La Petite Venise is what you’ll find most when you google Colmar. And for good reason- it’s like something out of a storybook! Make sure to enjoy lunch on one of the many patios overlooking the canal!
Is there anything more romantic than listening to a talented street musician play the accordion?
Le Petit Train is a fun and relaxing way to see the sites around Colmar. Choo choo!!!
Carrousel 1900 is Europe’s largest traditional wooden carousel (and a lot of fun to ride!)
Colmar was the birthplace of the man behind the Statue of Liberty- Auguste Bartholdi. In addition to a 1/4 size replica greeting visitors in a roundabout as you enter the city, you can also find these markers scattered throughout Colmar pointing to historically significant landmarks around the village.
Colmar is filled with shops, bakeries, restaurants, and wineries. Everything you could ever want for a relaxing day in wine country.
A glass of wine on the patio, the sun on your face, and the smell of flowers in the air- a picture perfect way to spend an afternoon among France’s vineyards.
